Artist Statement
“Feeling comfortable with my art has been one of many personal journeys I’ve embarked on.”
The only consistent thing about my art is that it has not been consistent- and that is my greatest strength as an artist. The differences can convey varying emotions. I am also a storyteller, and a lot of my personal work is reflective of characters and worldbuilding.
Abstraction has a lot to do with my ability to design. In 2020 I become the apprentice of Ron Ehrlich, an accomplished abstractionist who gave me some transformative advice at a crucial moment in my college career. I learned to treat my work like abstract art in the sense that it can be dense, but there are places your eyes can rest. I like sharp angles, thick outlines, and bright color palettes. I’m naturally light-handed so its always been easier for me to control lineweight while drawing traditionally and digitally.
I’ve accomplished a lot in only 23 years, and I think my experiences will greatly improve my teaching. I feel a lot better knowing that I can use what I’ve learned to help move younger artists along while also being able to make the things I love. I never cared much for commercial work, but I do like contributing as an artist for my community.

Animation
Reggie’s Kitchen is an independent film I made in a Stop Motion Animation course in my junior year at RISD. The set, characters, and voices were created/performed by me. I have more animations from my undergrad on my youtube channel Master Zucchini.
Children’s Book
In my senior year at RISD I designed/wrote my own children’s book using clip studio paint and Adobe Photoshop.
